We’ll visit La Manade Blanc, a family-run farm where they breed black Carmargue bulls and gray Camargues horses, and cultivate rice. We’ll tour the rice paddies fields on a cart and learn about rice production.

We’ll see the indigenous Camargue horse, one of the oldest breeds of horses in the world. For possibly thousands of years, these small hardy and agile horses have lived wild in the marshes and wetlands of the Rhône delta in manades, a small, semi-wild herd. The Camargue horses are the traditional mount of the gardians, the local cowboys who herd the bulls. We’ll have lunch at the farm after some appetizers with tellines, the tiny local wedge clams.

We continue on to Aigues Morte: where we’ll tour the salins, the basins where natural sea salt crystallizes on the surface for harvesting, travelling on a small train. We’ll also taste local specialties such as the Fougasse d’Aigues Morte and Saucisson d’Arles.
